-Thad, dad and grandpa
Serving as a volunteer after college, I had a conversation with an amazing man, Father Clark Yates, a retired priest living in Tenafly, New Jersey. I can’t remember exactly what we were talking about, but I said,
“Well, that’s what’s wrong with the world today.”
He paused for a moment, grinned, and said, “You are like a fish looking for water.”
I asked, “You mean I am a fish out of water?”
And he replied, “Nope. You’re in it. You just don’t see it.”
It took me twenty years to find the water and now I am delighted to share my journey with you through the story of Little Fish, Big Question.
"My hope is for the story of Little Fish to connect deeply with you no matter your age, gender, ethnicity, or religious background.
I want her journey to inspire you to live more mindfully so you can discover what you have always been seeking."
"I read Little Fish, Big Question for the first time while conducting a playgroup for toddlers. The children were very engaged with the story and the cute illustrations. What I like most about the book is that despite being a children's book, I found it insightful for adults. The story will make you reflect on your own life."
"As a student of mindfulness for over a decade, I found Little Fish, Big Question to be the children's intro to mindfulness I wish I had. I found myself with beginner's mind as I followed little fish's journey to find water and reflected on how there is still space for me to invite being still in my life. I can't wait to share this book with my nieces and nephew and find out what lessons they take from little fish story! P.S. The illustrations were just magical!"
"Angela, your book arrived yesterday, just as my granddaughter was arriving for her regular Friday sleepover. While I was getting ready for bed, my husband read it to her. We all went to bed soon after, so I didn't really get his reaction. Then in the morning, without any prompting from me, he said, "That book by your friend really affected me. It's so much deeper than most children's books. I can't stop thinking about it." Elouise asked me to read it to her again after breakfast. I have to agree with hubby. It's a new favorite on the shelf!
"I just finished reading Little Fish, Big Question and it is delightful! What a lovely story - and told just right with young readers in mind. It's impressive and meaningful!"
"Little Fish, Big Question is an inspiring story about a small fish searching for what’s right in front of her. I shared this story with my 7 and 9 year-olds, and it opened up a great opportunity for questions and discussion about life. I highly recommend this book not only for children but adults as well. Sometimes we all need is a little reminder that what we are searching for so desperately might actually be right in front of us."
